Listed below are numerous tips/tricks to help you optimize your gaming experience.
HL2 TDM Configuration Tip - Set Default Weapon
Edit the following line in your config.cfg file to set the default weapon of your choice.
cl_defaultweapon weapon_name (I.E. weapon_frag=Grenade & weapon_smg1=SMG Machine Gun)
HL2 Sound Loop Fix
If you have a looping sound while playing any HL2 mod then type the following in your console: snd_restart
HL2 Mods Special Configuration Tip
To keep your special configurations you setup in your config.cfg file browse to the file using Windows Explorer, Right mouse click on the file config.cfg, select properties, then select the the checkbox that says "Read Only" and then click on Okay.
Note: With your config.cfg 'Read Only' any changes made in the console/in game menu will only be effective for that gaming session.
General Steam Issues Tip
If you have issues with Steam crashing a lot and want to know why Steam might just be able to help.
First thing you need to do is Turn OFF Steam. Then type the following into your Internet browser: steam://support/?Issues=*
This will in turn generate a web page page on your desktop and pop up a box with information as per why you might be having problems along with solutions on how fix it.
Steam Beta Participation Tip
To partake in any current beta updates Steam is currently conducting to their gaming platform you need to enable it.
To do this do the following: Log into Steam, Right click on the Steam Icon in your taskbar and select 'Settings', check the box that states "Beta Participation" and click on OK.
Then log out of steam and restart it (it will then conduct a serious Steam update).
